So today, in class, I chose NOT to say the pledge. I refuse to and I think that I have every right to do so. I do not believe this country has freedom and justice to all. Sure, it does to an extent, but the fact that people in my family can’t marry who they love, is not justice. That is not freedom to all. It never will be unless It’s changed. Gay marriage may seem so minuscule in the big scheme of things, and that’s the point. Why is it so hard to accept that people are gay? You do realize, this is 2009? Do you realize this HURTS people when you say gay is NOT okay? Do you understand that not EVERY person is religious, therefore when you want to include some sort of Biblical “proof” in why gays should not get married, or even be gay for that matter, makes absolutely no sense? Why not just a CIVIL wedding? No need to get religion involved, just a civil marriage allowing them to wed? I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I have to bring this up all the time on Tumblr and I’m sorry that I can’t just let it go like It’s nothing. I have supported the gay community for years now and it breaks my heart more than ever to see how cruel others can be about others loving the same sex. I see this happen all the time. Almost everyday to be quite honest.
I hate that people are homophobic. I’m not accepting towards this. If you are homophobic, I probably think you’re an idiot. I do not discriminate against anyone, but this? This is an acception and I’ll tell you why. For whatever reason, (and I’ve seen this happen right before my very eyes) people say “I don’t want no gay person talkin/sittin next to/walkin past me.” Why though? The people who say this actually believe that because the person is gay, they will harm them. Well I am sorry, but what makes you think that they even find you attractive? Not only this, but do STRAIGHT people do that to OTHER straight people? No, of course not. I mean I suppose in some cases they do, but for the most part, no. They don’t. So what makes you think just because someone is gay they are going to hurt you? They won’t.
Did you know that gay people can not adopt? I’m sure you already knew that but I have to mention it. Some how, It’s more than OK for a straight couple to come in and adopt a child, but a gay couple can not. A child could be abused, physically and emotionally, be taken away from their home and put into an orphanage, BUT because this couple comes in that are gay, they are not allowed to adopt said child. EVEN THOUGH, this gay couple will love and take care of them, they can not adopt. But why? Why can’t a gay man or woman and their partner adopt? What is the reasoning behind it? You’re going to tell us that this child is better off in an orphanage instead of living in a comfortable warm and welcoming home ALL BECAUSE of ones sexuality? You’ve got to be kidding me. So many kids all over the United States would have homes and adoption rates would go up. More children would have a place to live and not only this, but a family that will love them. But you know what, we won’t let them have that because someone is gay. Yep, you’re gay so therefore you can not love this child. I mean, come on, YOU’RE gay right? Yeah, no can do, you’re obviously more of a threat than someone with a criminal record for abuse. OBVIOUSLY. //sarcasm (If you could not tell, which I hope you could)
Do you guys know how much money is spent on protesting gay marriages? If not, you probably don’t want to know. It’s an insane amount of money and It’s just as insane to think that it could be going towards a cause, or even to help this economy. But oh no why do that when we could just tell everyone how much we disagree with gay marriage right?
I don’t understand. I will never understand. I always thought love was about finding someone you are attracted to in all aspects. Looks, personality, flaws, strengths, weaknesses. Apparently I was wrong. It seems as if people can not accept others for who they are.
Love does not know gender. It never has, and it never will.
This is Tumblr, so I’m sure that most of you will like and agree with this post, and I’m sure at least one person will have something negative to say. At least one person will tell me to shut the fuck up and stop worrying about it.
Well I’ve heard it all, and this is MY account. I am allowed to say and express whatever I want. If you have a problem with that, you can simply unfollow, or ignore it. It’s your choice whether to take the time to reblog and tell me what an idiot I am, or to just simply ignore me, unfollow or even block me.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to read this, I appreciate it a lot and I apologize for any errors through out these paragraphs.
